Useful information for the patient

Duration of visits

Usually, the patient’s stay at the Policlínic for an ophthalmology visit is longer than for other specialties. Normally the most frequent ophthalmological visit consists of different phases:

  • Determination of the reason for the visit and eye test
  • Completion of complementary tests prior to pupillary dilation (for example, perimetry)
  • Pupillary dilation (if applicable)
  • Fundus and tests that require dilation (for example, OCT)
  • Final visit with the ophthalmologist.

Although we try to ensure that the coordination of the professionals who carry out the different stages of the visit is optimal, it can be estimated that the average time spent in the Center for a visit in which all (or a large part) of these tests have to be done and waiting the time necessary for dilation can be at least 45 minutes to an hour. We kindly ask you to take this into account when scheduling your visit, and for the same reason we thank you for your understanding if your visit is ever delayed beyond what we would have liked.

Care for patients with contact lenses

The use of contact lenses alters the ocular surface significantly, causing that the prescription calculated for the patient may not be exact if it is calculated in the following hours. For this reason, it is recommended not to wear contact lenses 48 hours prior to the appointment with the ophthalmologist, especially if the reason for the visit is a review of the prescription or prescription of new glasses.

If the reason for the consultation is not this, the patient can come with contact lenses, although they will have to be removed for the examination.

Parking in the area where Policlínic Sant Cugat is located

We are located in the Torreblanca neighborhood, with easy access from the different highways and roads that surround the city, but where parking can be difficult. For patients and companions who come to our Center in a private vehicle, we recommend the following alternatives to leave their vehicle.

  • Underground public parking: available at the corner of Rambla del Celler and Paseo Torreblanca, about 300 meters from the Polyclinic.

  • Parking of a well-known supermarket located 100 meters on the same sidewalk as Rambla del Celler. Parking is free, but it is necessary for a purchase at the supermarket to have free parking.
